The editing choices that we’ve made succinctly distinguish both videos, even though both are composed of footage shot at the same location at the same time. This will allow us to do some A/B split testing, to determine which methods appeal most to our audience. Here’s a brief discussion of the different editing techniques we used to evoke different emotions with each video:

Most people can tell the difference between good video and bad video production. They may not be able to articulate why a production is good or bad whether it’s bad lighting, color or something else, they’ll just know something was off. One tool that we use at Edit House Productions LLC, is depth of field. Controlling depth of field can mean the difference between a professional looking video and something that looks a bit more homemade.
At Edit House Productions LLC, we give careful thought to how a production is put together so that it tells a story. We use different types of shots to communicate different information to the viewer. The field of view of a shot, or balance between the principal subject and his surrounding background area establish the location and time frame, whereas closer shots might convey more emotion. Here’s an in-depth look at different types of shots and how they’re used to get a point across.
When shooting a commercial, marketing video, or documentary, many times capturing the necessary footage can take place over a period of days, weeks or even months. When a shoot takes a prolonged period of time, a production is susceptible to continuity errors. Viewers pick up on minor details, and inconsistencies in acting, props, or costumes can distinguish an amateur filmmaker or producer from a professional. At Edit House Productions LLC, we are vigilant when it comes to continuity in our shots.
The Responsible Gaming Association of New Mexico is an alliance made up of tribal casinos throughout the state that have come together to help address problem and compulsive gambling. RGANM works to draw attention to these issues and direct individuals who need assistance to helpful resources. Problem gambling is not an issue that affects a large portion of the population, but it has a devastating effect on the lives of those who suffer from it. A few years ago, The Responsible Gaming Association of New Mexico set out to create a documentary designed to educate the public on the seriousness of these issues. RGANM selected Edit House Productions LLC, to produce the documentary, due to our long history of supporting nonprofits and promoting social causes.
Great commercial production is dependent upon compelling storytelling that’s relevant to the viewer. A compelling story moves viewers to act, and ultimately that’s the reason we advertise – to influence behavior. When we embark on a video production project, the first thing we ask ourselves is who is our audience. Then we ask ourselves how we want that audience to feel. It’s our job to create an emotional connection through storytelling.

Before HD was even available to viewers, we worked with local television stations to develop the HD compression standards that are still in use today. But we didn’t stop there. We continue to look toward the future and anticipate shifts in the video industry.

At Edit House Productions, we approach different video production projects with different strategies and techniques, based on what our client envisions for their end product. We take time to understand our customer’s objectives in approaching their commercial broadcast, documentary, or training video, and then create a piece of film that matches those goals. A sometimes abstract concept that is at the forefront of our production team’s mind as we begin to strategize how to create a piece of film and exceed our clients’ expectations is how to shoot the film and whether to employ a cinematic or commercial approach to the look of the piece.

As the project progresses, we wanted to deliver an update on the state of the project, and where it is headed in 2015.

The magic of film and video often lies in its ability to create fantastic worlds new to our eyes. Characters can walk around in a landscape of video effects and impressive technology unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, and all rendered through digital backdrops. The secret to pulling your subjects out of this world and placing them elsewhere is green screening.
Think about the best commercials you have seen. What did they have in common? Did they evoke emotion in you? Did they give you insights into the business’s personality? The best advertising tells the viewer a story- it can be brief, it can be funny, it can be offbeat- but it always communicates a message through the power of narrative. Products and services matter, of course, but what connects people to companies are the stories that great advertising can tell.
Edit House recently filmed a frighteningly good October spot for Melloy Dodge of Albuquerque. A lot went into the production of this commercial- from composing a script, creating graphics, and shooting footage to editing the film and stringing it all together. The end product serves up some truly TERRORific advertising material.
