On and off over the past 25 years, I have had the opportunity to work with a number of organizations that serve children with special needs. Years ago, our production company created a number of outreach videos for an organization in Wichita, Kansas called The Institute of Logopedics (now Heartspring). Their ongoing mission is to create safe, caring, and educational settings for children with severe mental illness or other major developmental syndromes. To say the least, participating in the production of outreach videos for these youth was tremendously rewarding!
In the same timeframe, we were also producing promotional videos for Cessna Aircraft Corporation. The Cessna Special Olympics Airlift is the largest peacetime airlift effort in Aviation History. One of Cessna’s amazing outreach projects is the “Cessna Special Olympics Airlift”. This effort helps Special Olympians travel to the International Special Olympics games that the United States hosts every 4 years. Then president of Cessna at the time, Russ Meyer originated the airlift– where hundreds of special needs children are flown in and out of the Special Olympic Games! Imagine– hundreds of Cessna jets landing every 2 to 3 minutes for 8 hours, bringing in their very special passengers to compete! Our company documented two of those events– a wonderful site to see! Now, 20 years later, there’s another need… this time in our own community. The need is for an “inclusive play” park where children of all ages and abilities can play, learn, laugh, and spend precious time with family and friends. That’s why Edit House Productions, LLC has teamed up with “A Park Above” to create promotional video to help raise needed funds to execute the park’s design. We’re in the beginning stages of production– be sure to watch here for additional postings, pictures, and updates of great things to come!
